Face Mapping: Pimples and Acne

Face mapping is “the ability to see the reflection of the body's organs on each part of the face by observing the face's complexion.” Where you’re breaking out is actually a reflection of what is happening to your body, and we should all be responsible in taking care of ourselves.

The words “acne” and “pimples” are commonly misused for the other, and even though the two are very similar, they are undoubtedly different. Acne is a skin disease involving the oil glands at the base of the hair follicles. Pimples, on the other hand, are actually just part of acne.

If you are reading this and have acne or pimples (or maybe even both,) then don’t worry! Almost 80% of people from 11 to 30 years old have experienced a breakout of some sort at one point in their lives. Both acne and pimples are caused by pores clogged by sebum or dead skin. However, few people know that, based on the location of where their pimples appear, they can actually tell the more specific causes of why you have acne and pimples.

Looking at Location

Based on the location of where you are breaking out, face mapping is “the ability to see the reflection of the body's organs on each part of the face by observing the face's complexion.”

The practice of face mapping can actually traced back to the days of ancient Chinese medicine. Although the practice has evolved over time, the core of it has remained the same: where you’re breaking out is a reflection of what is happening to your body.

Know What They Mean

Forehead

Pimples which appear on your forehead are usually linked to your digestive system. It indicates that you may be having a hard time breaking down certain food. It also indicates the possibility of having liver problems, the prominence of stress, or having an irregular sleep schedule.

To remedy this, you may intake more food items with digestive enzymes such as papaya or pineapple to help break down your food, and to ensure that you are getting at least 7-9 hours every night. On the other hand, if you think that you may have liver issues you can try some dandelion tea, extra garlic and onions, or drinking hot water with lemon in the morning,

Between the Brows

Food that is particularly greasy and fatty may be connected to acne that appear around this area. Eating these kinds of foods once in a while isn’t bad, just make sure to not eat them on a daily basis. Remember, that when you can, make sure to eat and choose the healthier alternative. Aside from this, if you discover pimples around this area after a night of drinking, alcohol is also the most likely cause for them.

Cheeks

Pimples that appear around your cheeks may actually be caused by the pollution around you. In the Philippines, commuting to some places is inevitable, and sitting for minutes, and sometimes hours, in a jeepney because of the traffic can adversely affect your skin if it is not properly protected.

You can purchase certain skincare products which have anti-pollution properties. However, we have to be aware that the air you experience outside may not be the only one affecting your complexion. Consider adding plants that remove toxins around your home to clean the air you and your family are exposed to. Aside from these, make sure to clean any surfaces which your cheeks may come in contact with such as your phone’s screen, or your pillow case. Excessive sugar in your diet are also to blame sometimes! So make sure to keep what you eat in check.

Chin

For women, if pimples appear around this area, this may be related to a change in your hormones. In the days before your expected day or week for your period, try to pay extra attention to your skincare. Consider eating food that help regulate your natural hormone cycles such as protein, fish, and fiber. Aside from this, make sure to avoid resting your chin on your hands when you’re bored since this particular action can transfer oils from your fingers or your palm, which can cause pimples.

Admittedly, you do have to make sure that you have a regular skincare routine. However, aside from this, you also have to keep in mind that breakouts can be treated from the inside out.

However, if you none of the suggested actions work for you, you may consider consulting with a dermatologist with regards to the other courses of actions you can take. If this isn’t your preference, you may also consult experts in alternative medicine.
